German Studies M.A. and Germanic Languages & Literatures Ph.D.

The Master's and Doctoral degrees in German Studies encompass diverse coursework, research, and pedagogical training. Students have the opportunity to explore in depth German literature, culture, linguistics, and second-language acquisition. Particular foci of our course offerings include applied linguistics and pedagogy and German dialects in the United States, along with German literature and culture of the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries. Our graduate students, upon completion of their degrees, pursue both academic and a wide range of non-academic careers.*

*PLEASE NOTE:  The Department of German Studies has suspended matriculation for the 2018-2019 Academic Year and will not be considering applications until further notice.  If you wish to be notified when the application queue is reopened, please contact Graduate Academic Advisor, Aley Pennington.
